Medicine Education Program provides education on proper use and storage of prescription medications. Older adults often take multiple prescriptions for various ailments and often do not understand the possible dangerous interactions between prescription medications, and between medications and alcohol. This often leads to medical dangers and/or addiction. This program helps older adults understand their medications and how they work, as well as how to work with their doctors in planning future medication needs.

Promotores de Salud is a health promotion program designed to serve older Latino adults. We find that older Latinos do not often avail themselves of health education programs surrounding diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, and other illnesses which disproportionately affect them. Promotores are trained volunteers from the Latino community who meet clients in their homes and their community in order to bring this type of health education to them with the goal linking individuals to formal medical care and education programs with competence in serving the Latino community.

South Bay Senior Services (SBSS) is a program designed to help seniors “age in place”. Seniors often end up in assisted living centers and nursing homes long before they otherwise might because they have difficulty with normal daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, and social connectedness. SBSS provides paid or volunteer support to older adults in their homes with these activities in order to allow them to remain in their homes for as long as possible, thereby ensuring a better length and quality of life for many South Bay seniors.
