In Loving Memory of Rickey Carr

May 2, 1955 - May 15, 2020

"Rickey Alan Carr was born May 2, 1955, in Birmingham, Alabama to Willie Carr Sr. and Greta Ann Carr. He was the fourth of five children born to that union, and had one older brother, William "Boot" Carr, and three sisters, Sandra Ann Carr-Page, Barbara Marie Carr, and Vicki Renae Carr.

Rickey attended Carrie A. Tuggle Elementary School. He went to Sunday School and Bible Study with his family. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Greater Bethany Church.

In 1968, Rickey and his family relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he attended Bethune Jr. Middle School, excelled in his studies and had a passion for art and basketball. He met his long-time best friends, Ivory Watson and Lawrence Gregg, remaining close friends for 50 years, also known as the Three Amigos.

In 1973, He went on to attend Crenshaw High School, where he played varsity basketball and graduated. In 1974, Rickey had a daughter, LaKaisha "Kay" McMurray.

Rick loved music, dancing, enjoyed spending time with his family, and close friends. He liked to tell stories of his past and was indeed a jokester. Rick was an avid sports fan, and his favorite teams were the L.A. Lakers, Dallas Cowboys, and L.A. Dodgers. His all-time favorite quote was, "I LIKE IT LIKE THAT!"

On May 15, 2020, Rickey was called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother & sister, Boot & Sandra.

Rickey leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Kay; two granddaughters, Dalen Bailey and Cyndee Johnson; and one grandson, Lavell Johnson; two sisters, Barbara and Vicki; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
