In Loving Memory of Darryl P. Swingler

April 16, 1951 - November 9, 2020

Darryl Patrick Swingler was born on April 16, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, to Howard and Bertha Swingler (who both preceded him in death).

Darryl was raised in the City of Compton, California; he attended Ardella B. Tibby Elementary School, Vanguard Jr. High, and graduated from Compton Senior High, where he received a scholarship to attend Loyola Marymount University. He played little league baseball, football, ran track throughout his early school years, and was an R.O.T.C member.

After leaving Loyola Marymount University, Darryl enlisted in the United States Army, where he was able to continue his education and earn a degree. After serving five years in the military, Darryl received an honorable discharge and soon became employed by Southern California Edison and eventually moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he worked for Seagate Technology until he retired and returned back home to Compton, California.

On November 9th, Darryl transitioned to his Heavenly home after a lengthy illness. But before he made his transition, he was able to see his Dodgers win the World Series, the Lakers win the NBA Championship, and most importantly, he was able to cast his vote for the 2020 election in person.

Darryl leaves to cherish his memory, his son Patrick, sister Vicki, brother-in-law Alvin, niece Tiffani, nephew Terrance, great-nephew, Terasmus, and a host of loving cousins and friends.
