In Loving Memory of Lula Mae Fleming Graham

August 30, 1928 - January 28, 2019

Lula was born August 30, 1928, to Vera Hawkins and Robert Fleming in Oceola, Arkansas. Lula accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 13 under the leadership of Reverend Olice Bryant at Christian Union Church, where she sang in the choir with the Willa Mae Ford Smith Special Traveling Choir.

Lula attended grammar school in Oceola; she later moved to Saint Louis, Missouri in 1936 with her mother Vera and stepfather Reverend Alonzo Fuller. In 1945 Lula graduated from Sumner High School, in Missouri.

Lula met her childhood sweetheart Leighton Tennell, and they were married in 1947 to this union three children were born, Leighton Jr., Carla, and Jacquelyn. In 1957 they moved to California where she nurtured, raised, and disciplined her children.

Lula united with First Church Of God under the leadership of Bishop Benjamin Reid, and Love Lifted Me under the leadership of Pastor S. Shiggs. She then became a faithful member of Faith and Hope Community Church under the leadership of Pastor La Velle Gates.

Lula met Victor Graham through a mutual friend in 1964, and they married in 1972, she traveled abroad going to various places such as London, England, Italy, Spain, Rome, Jerusalem, the Holy Land, and countless other places until God called her home.

Lula was a socialite; she was a faithful member of the Unique Ladies Social and Charity Club for many years and a dedicated member of the Women of Color Organization.

Lula was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she had a sensitive side when it came to her kids, being that she was an only child she had a big family now including her dogs.

Lula liked cooking, gardening, playing bid whist and she had a love for her roses, she had them in every color and description in her yard.

Lula never gave up; she said: I am not going to give up or give out, I am going to stay here until I can't fight no more. Before she left, she told each of her grandchildren she loved them via satellite; and she said: don't you ever forget it.
