In Loving Memory of Thelma Garcia

July 7, 1933 - April 8, 2019

Thelma Garcia was born July 7, 1933, in St. Louis, MO to Nancy McCain-Harris and Louis Bryant. Thelma was the fifth of eight siblings.

She received her education is the Los Angeles School District, graduating from Jordan High School.

Thelma accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. She united with West Angeles Church of God In Christ. Thelma met and married Ezekiel Gibson, to this union four children were born: Terrance, Mark, Kimberly, and Stephanie; Thelma and Ezekiel were married 14 years. Later she met and married James L. Garcia, to this union a daughter was born, Raquel. Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, watching the Young and the Restless, and listening to her favorite albums. She also loved family gatherings.

Thelma was a very loving, generous soul; she had a good sense of humor, loved to laugh, and had an outgoing personality. She loved shopping and wearing very fashionable, classy clothing. Makeup, hair color, and jewelry was her everything. Thelma liked to dine at her local buffets regularly. She also enjoyed cooking and baking cakes. Thelma was a no-nonsense type of woman; she would defend her family in a heartbeat, no holds barred. Her momma bear instincts were on point. She was also very generous; she would feed you, let you spend the night and lend you money. Lend is the keyword because if you didnt pay her back, then all hell would break loose. She had gorgeous hair with a beautiful one-dimple smile that could light up a room. Thelma endured a lot in her lifetime and fought until she couldnt fight any longer, Lord Bless her soul. She will truly be missed.

Thelma was preceded in death by her 1st husband Ezekiel Gibson, 2nd husband James L Garcia, her mother Nancy Harris, father Louis Bryant, and sons: Terrance Bernard Gibson, and Mark Anthony Gibson.

Those left to cherish her memory are children: Kimberly Gibson, Stephanie Gibson, and Raquel Garcia; siblings: Theda Wren, Genetha Burkley, Henderson Bryant, Alvada Helen Bryant, Percy Bryant, Herman Bryant, and Hyman Babers; grandchildren: DeAngelo Ramsey, Misty Ramsey-Edomwande, Ronald Watkins, Summer Watkins, Torry McTyer, and Taylor Jefferson. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
